The RPG Wiki

The idea here is to have a central repository for all kinds of campaigns for tabletop role-playing games. Players will be able to add information about characters they come across and otherwise save valuable bits of information for later, and dungeon masters will be able to spend more time actually creating new things for their campaigns while the players populate the wiki with information (though hopefully they'll help out too).

When you're reading articles, if you see a red hyperlink, that means that the article hasn't been written yet. Please help out by writing the article! Also, if you're reading an article and know some details that aren't in there, add them! And if you find that an article is missing completely, trying searching for it, and nothing comes up then you'll be presented with the option to create that article.

Using The RPG Wiki

When making new articles, naming is very important. Be sure to check to make sure that an article hasn't already been written under a different name, and follow the patterns of naming similar articles (for instance, since other articles about people use their real first and last name, then you should make a new article named "John Doe" instead of "John" or "The Goobermaster 5000").

Game Masters

Please feel encouraged to use this site to provide good documentation for your own players. The name of the article for your campaign should start with the word campaign. For example, if the name of your campaign was Angry Apples, then the name of the first article for your campaign should be "Campaign Angry Apples." Be sure to also add a link to your campaign's main article below in the Active Campaigns section along with your name so that your players can find it nice and easily!

Also, if you make individual articles for your sessions, the name of the article should not be "Session 1" but instead, should be whatever you named that particular chapter in your story. For instance, if it was called "Session 1: Dangerous Dandelions," then the name of the article should be "Dangerous Dandelions."

Players

Be helpful! Your dungeon master decided to use this site to be able to provide you with good documentation and so that he or she could rely on you to help keep the history of your campaign. Chances are that your dungeon master wants you to fill in the blanks with what you remember about people, places, history, and other articles about his or her campaign.

One easy way to help out is to just read an article and link things to other articles, even if that article has yet to be made and even if you don't have the time to write it. To do this, just go into edit mode, highlight the text you want to make into an article link, and click the "Internal Link" button on the editing bar (it's the one with the picture of the blue underlined "Ab"). Sometimes just creating the link itself is enough to inspire others to write the article.

Please don't cheat in your game by changing details about the story to suit yourself regardless of what actually happened. MediaWiki makes it easy to track the changes made in articles, so aside from just sort of making yourself laugh, you'll just get caught and looked at funny.

Everybody

Start an article about yourself. Talk about what you look for in a campaign and how you like to play your character. Other people in your campaign will edit your entry too, so you'll know how other people see your style. It's a great way for you to grow as a player or as a game master.

When you make your article, please use your real first and last name, just like how Wikipedia does it for example. Aside from adding a professional touch, this helps make sure that people with the same name can both have their own article. The privacy conscious should note that having your first and last name on the web is not sufficient information for anybody to find or contact you. To protect the users of the RPG Wiki as well as the RPG Wiki itself, please do not put information such as your home address or phone number in your article, and if you see such information in somebody else's, please edit their article and remove that information for them (if you want to have that information on the web, then stick it on your blog and link to that page).
